“If you can’t grow it or sew it, you can’t have it”. This was my mantra I raised my two children with in the late 70’s, early 80’s (poor dears). Even though the refrigerator seemed bare, there was always food – you just had to forage and use your imagination. We used to say we could make something from nothing. If you had eggs and a little cheese you had an omelet. Throw in some herbs and you had a fancy omelet.
Now my eldest daughter is all grown up and a mother herself. She loves to cook for her family, loves to read cookbooks and especially entertain. During the summer there is a grill going most of the time. Here are some fun recipes she gave me one Christmas for the grill. She knew the little hand written cards wrapped in a string would be the best present she could give me. I loved the way she wrote Yummy! on the card. She used to say that when she was little and still does.
